Having taken off with a great start, we can conclude it is a good season for the organic mangoes from Burkina Faso! The general quality of the mangoes is very good compared to last year. The reason for that is the recently built mango packing house with a sorting line and cooling chamber owned by our supplier Sanlé. The fresh harvested mangoes are immediately packed and cooled on the same day, and this contributes to the quality and maximum freshness.
Sanlé has started harvesting and the first airfreighted mangoes have already arrived in our state-of-the-art warehouse in Poeldijk, The Netherlands. The first sea freight mangoes arrived last week. Throughout the whole season, the mangoes will be loaded on a faster vessel in order to guarantee to our customers better delivery reliability and shelf life.
Amelie and Kent
The growers of Sanlé produce Amelie and Kent mangoes, which are very similar to each other. The Amelie mango has a great flavor when ripened well, with a unique perfumed fragrance and is very soft with stringless flesh. It is a highly popular mango and can be used in many dishes. The Kent mango is juicy and very sweet with stringless flesh and has a small stone.
