Where have we come from and where are we going to? in this short Q & A interview we will tell you about the history of OTC Organics.

It all began with Fred Kloen and Edward Out. The founded the company in Lelystad in 2001, under the name Tellus Produce B.V. Fred and Edward were both traders in the organic fruit and vegetables sector. They joined forces to export organic open-field produce from the Netherlands and Belgium.

In 2003, Tradin Organic Culture approached Tellus B.V. to ask if they would be interested in collaborating with their subsidiary company Trabana B.V., a company specialised in organic bananas and exotic fruits. That is how it all began.

Before we changed our name to OTC Organics, we traded for some time under the name Organic Trade Company Holland B.V. That took place after 1 April 2004 when Tellus Produce B.V. and Trabana B.V. merged their activities.

Indeed it did. Thanks to Tradin Organic Culture’s broad network and its supporting facilities, we were able to considerably expand our import activities between 2005 and 2007. And not only that… a decade later we were able to gain access to the Scandinavian market when we entered a partnership with Total Produce Nordic. Thus, we continued to expand our import and export areas.

In 2018, we changed our name, moved from Lelystad to Dronten and started our ‘from trading to farming’ concept. We bring growers and buyers in contact with each other and provide both parties with our professional support.

In 2022, we became 100% part of Dole plc. We are very proud to be the Dole group’s leading specialist in organically grown products.
