OTC Academy empowers Peruvian organic avocado growers with SPRING certification workshops
February marked a pivotal moment for organic avocado growers in Peru as the OTC Academy organized two intensive workshops aimed at achieving SPRING certification.
The first session on February 20th, held in Huancayo, Peru, attracted a full house of 15 dedicated growers. At the second session on February 23rd, located in Huacho, Peru, 8 enthusiastic growers eagerly immersed themselves in the intricacies of sustainable Water Management, despite some absentees due to the rigours of the harvest season.
Participants called the workshops a resounding success and unanimously expressing confidence in the relevance of water management. These sessions, led by leading GLOBALG.A.P. experts, enabled growers to increase their water awareness, implement efficient water management practices at the farm level and learned how to protect precious water resources.
At the same time, we are proud to announce that our ‘organic avocado project’ in Peru has also achieved SPRING certification. Building on the foundation laid during the workshops, we successfully obtained SPRING certification for 100 small-scale avocado producers. With the SPRING certification, we guarantee that our avocados meet strict standards of quality, awareness on water management and environmental and social responsibility.
